It's a tradition. Each year Mimi, Maggie, and I attend the Azalea Trails Quilt Show. We attend because it is a fun girls-only day and because all three of us enjoy sewing. We have done this for the last 5 years and this year we expanded the tradition. This year, Daphne is 6 years old and is very interested in sewing, so, we invited her and her mom (my sis) to join the tradition!
Maggie really enjoyed sharing the way we "do" the Quilt Show with her cousin. There is a scavenger hunt for children attending the quilt show and Maggie always participates. The scavenger hunt consists of a list of quilts to find, like a quilt that has a lot of cats, or one with a large eagle in the center, or one with flip flops. This is a great way to keep the kids occupied as they look at the quilts. Maggie and Daphne found everything on the list and each received a small prize.
Each visitor to the quilt show also gets to vote for their favorite entry. We always enjoy this part. As we view the quilts we note our favorites on our programs and then go back and look at each one again to decide our favorite. Daphne chose the Cat quilt and Maggie loved the Celtic Knot quilt.
The girls also got to sew a four-patch block and bring it home for a souvenir. We finished off the day with a trip to SmashBurger for lunch. Fun, Fun, Fun!!!
I am a Mom. That is my definition of me. I am Mom to four loud, busy, creative, strong-willed children. My husband is my very best friend and thankfully, just as strongwilled as our kids! Our house is loud, and I mean really loud, and disorganized, but always interesting. We homeschool, craft, play in the dirt alot, and love to travel!
